What Are TCA Chemical Peels And How Do They Work?
Generally speaking TCA peel contains trichloroacetic acid, which is a more potent form of organic acid found in Vinegar. They are less harsh on skin compared to traditional peels. Unlike home peel treatments, they work by dissolving top layer of dry, damaged skin. The body naturally stimulates the production of new healthy skin. During the process a surge in collagen levels is also stimulated, which gives skin some level of tightness. They are meant to be progressive rather than one time treatment. By using a series of peel treatments, enhanced results can be obtained. TCA peels help exfoliate skin and remove typical skin blemishes. They also help increase in collagen improving fine lines and wrinkles and aid in overall skin rejuvenation.
What Do TCA Chemical Peels Treat?
TCA Chemical Peels can treat the following conditions:
- Acne
- Wrinkles
- Fine lines
- Freckles
- Abnormal skin pigmentation
- Scars
- Skin-Damage caused by sun
Results And Expectations
After a chemical peel, you may have some mild redness for few days. The skin will start to flake and new skin forms underneath. After treatment, Dr. Kalyam’s team will provide with after care instructions to your specific case (except sun screens). There is no down time at all. Direct skin exposure and use of cosmetic on face should be avoided while skin is healing for 1-2 weeks.
Different strengths of peel concentrations work at different level of depths. Deeper chemical peels can offer substantial results but require a longer recovery period. Chemical peels stimulate collagen production, resulting in smoother and youthful skin.
