- It is common to have swelling/bruising for the first 48 hrs before they improve. Keep your head elevated and apply cold compresses as much as possible. After 48 hrs, to help improve condition, patients can apply warm compresses.
- It is normal to have some small amount of bleeding after the surgery. Continuous gentle pressure is suggested to stop bleeding. Please call our office if the bleeding is continuous and if pain increases sharply.
- It is also common to have some blurry vision after Eyelid surgery. Healing ointments that may cover the tear film can cause this. Most patients may not be able to read any fine print but this will improve during the post-operative weeks. Keeping eyes well lubricated with artificial tears can help minimize inconvenience of blurry vision.
- The down time is pretty minimal after an Eyelid surgery. However, patients should avoid strenuous activity, working out, lifting heavy weights and bending over for two weeks. It is also recommended to avoid sun exposure for atleast two weeks to help maximize wound healing.
Dr. Priya Kalyam will schedule your first post-operative visit after your surgery and she will also be available to help with any post-operative care during your recovery process.
